Ian Askell has over 19 years’ experience working within the Electrical Industry including Demand Management, Strategy, and Innovation. As the Senior Commercial Specialist – Electrification & Key Accounts at Essential Energy, Ian is responsible for the development and implementation of Essential Energy’s Electrification Program. The purpose of the program is to support customers to transition away from non-transport fossil fuels, such as natural gas, LPG, and diesel, unpack sectorial decarbonisation barriers, while harnessing innovation and cross-industry collaboration to enable customers to access lower cost, carbon free, resilient energy.

Ian holds a degree of Electrical Engineering with 1st Class Honours from the University of Newcastle and has been a dedicated committee member of the Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA).
